Step 1 : Debarking
During the first step of the procedure, the bark is entirely removed from the trunk by a specialized machine. The bark will be totally recovered and turned into cedar mulch. |
Step 2 : Cross-cutting
The cedar is next cut into16-inch (40 cm) logs.
Step 3 : Sawing
The 16-inch logs are sawed into shingles and sorted. At this step of the procedure, each shingle is also surfaced and squared on its four sides. |
Step 4 : Packing
The shingles are then packaged. A square is equal to 4 packages of shingle. Each square can cover an area of between 80 and 120 sq. ft., depending on the width of exposure. |
Step 5 : Palletizing
The squares are finally placed on pallets for distribution to the company's different partners. Each pallet comprises 12 squares. |
